Troubleshooting
Not every bill has errors — a clean result is a good thing! If you expected findings, try these steps:
Make sure the photo is clear, well-lit, and includes all line items. If your bill has multiple pages, scan each page separately. Check that you scanned an itemized bill (with CPT codes and individual charges), not just a summary statement. You can request an itemized bill from your provider — it's your legal right.
For best results: use good lighting (avoid shadows), hold your phone steady and parallel to the bill, make sure all text is within the frame, and avoid glare from overhead lights. If you're scanning a screen (like a PDF or patient portal), take a screenshot instead of photographing the screen.
Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store. Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Billscope → Cancel Subscription. Your Pro features remain active until the end of your current billing period.
Since payments are processed through Apple, refund requests go through them: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Billscope charge, and request a refund. You can also contact us at support@billscope.ai if you need help.
All data is stored on your device only. You can delete individual bills within the app (swipe left on any bill in History). To delete everything, uninstall Billscope — this permanently removes all images, analyses, and letters. We have no cloud copies.
Billscope identifies potential issues for your review. If a finding doesn't seem right, it may be because your insurance has a specific contract rate that differs from standard pricing, or the bill context wasn't fully captured in the photo. Always verify findings before acting on them. You can email us specific feedback at support@billscope.ai — it helps us improve.
Tips for Best Results
Get an itemized bill
Always request an itemized statement with CPT codes and individual charges. Summary bills ("Total Due: $3,400") give the AI much less to work with. You have a legal right to an itemized bill.
Capture everything
Include provider name, dates of service, all line items, and totals. For multi-page bills, scan each page. The more context, the better the analysis.
Include your EOB
If you have an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance, scan that too. Comparing the bill against your EOB helps catch insurance processing errors.
Review before sending
Always read your dispute letter before sending it. Edit the details to match your specific situation. The letter is a professional template — personalize it for best results.
