These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Billscope mobile application ("App," "Service," "we," "our"), operated by Pierogi Labs LLC. By downloading, installing, or using Billscope, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. What Billscope Does
Billscope is a consumer tool that uses AI to analyze medical bills for potential billing errors. The App allows you to photograph medical bills, receive AI-powered analysis identifying potential issues, generate dispute letter templates, and track your billing history and savings on your device.
2. What Billscope Is Not
Billscope does not provide medical advice, legal advice, financial advice, or professional medical billing advocacy services. All analysis results represent potential issues for your review. They are not guaranteed to be actual billing errors. Actual charges depend on your insurance contract, provider agreements, and individual circumstances.
Billscope is not a HIPAA-covered entity. We are an educational consumer tool. If you require HIPAA-covered services, please consult a licensed healthcare provider or certified medical billing advocate.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Billscope. By using the App, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
4. Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for verifying any findings before acting on them.
- You should review and edit dispute letters before sending them.
- You should not rely solely on Billscope's analysis for billing decisions.
- You are responsible for the security of your device and the data stored on it.
- You must not use Billscope for any unlawful purpose or to harass healthcare providers.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Free Tier
The free tier includes unlimited bill scans with full error detection, plain-English findings, and CPT code lookup.
Pro Subscription
Pro subscriptions are available at $7.99/month or $59.99/year, providing dispute letter generation, bill history, savings tracking, and report exports. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Per-Bill Purchase
Single bill deep audits are available for $3.99 each as a one-time purchase, including full analysis and dispute letter generation.
Payments and Refunds
All payments are processed through Apple's App Store. Subscription management, cancellation, and refund requests are handled through your Apple ID account settings. We do not directly process or store payment information.
6. Data and Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data. Key points: all bill data is stored only on your device; bill images are transmitted to our AI provider for analysis over encrypted connections; our AI provider does not use your data for model training.
7. Intellectual Property
Billscope, including its AI system prompt, analysis algorithms, user interface, and content, is the intellectual property of Billscope and its developer. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the App or its analysis methodology.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Billscope is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the analysis will be accurate, complete, or error-free, that all billing errors will be detected, that using dispute letters will result in reduced bills or successful disputes, or that the App will be available uninterrupted.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Billscope and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to damages resulting from acting on analysis findings, sending dispute letters, or failing to detect a billing error.
Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Billscope and its developer from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your dispute of medical bills based on Billscope analysis, or your violation of these Terms.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice before they take effect. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using Billscope at any time by uninstalling the App. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, though we will make reasonable efforts to notify you first.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
